LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jay Z didn’t have much flow during a high-profile appearance in Los Angeles yesterday. But that was OK since the appearance was in court, not on stage. The rapper and producer Timbaland are being sued by heirs of an Egyptian composer of a 1957 tune that has elements featured in Jay-Z’s 1999 hit “Big Pimpin.’ Jay-Z told the jury he believes he had a valid license to use the song. During his hour and a half on the stand, Jay-Z often gave one-word answers, but also used humor to lighten the mood at times. When the plaintiff’s lawyer tried to show him something Jay-Z had written in a book about his lyrics, the rapper said: “You can read it from over there.”
