CANCER SURVIVORS INVITED TO A CELEBRATORY DINNER AT RELAY FOR LIFE OF MID CAPE ON JUNE 14
All cancer survivors and their caregivers are invited to a complimentary dinner given in their honor immediately prior to the opening ceremonies of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life of Mid Cape on Friday, June 14th at Dennis-Yarmouth High School.
Dinner and desserts are donated by local restaurants. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 5:00 p.m. in the high school’s cafeteria. Following dinner, cancer survivors will be asked to don purple tee shirts and lead the first lap around the track, signifying the official start of Relay For Life 2013! Subsequent laps honor caregivers and health care workers. A silent “Luminaria Lap” at 9:00 pm remembers those lost to cancer. At that time, the track is lit only by candles in luminaria bags which are decorated and dedicated to loved ones. To sign up for the dinner or for more information, please contact Ashley Wills at 508-444-6824 or 508-681-5017.
It’s not too late to form a team with your family, friends and co-workers! This event which serves the entire Mid-Cape area, is a community event where teams walk the track of the high school during a 24 hour period. During the event, teams of people walk laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times.
